GRANITE HILLS

GRANITE HILLS

Perched atop the spectacular boulder strewn slopes of the Great Dividing Range in Central Victoria, midway between Mt Macedon and Heathcote, the Granite Hills vineyard lies at the interface of climates.

Essentially cool due to an altitude of 550 metres, but with a warm and dry influence from Central Victoria, it’s no surprise that this is home to one of Australia’s benchmark Rieslings as well as being heralded as the birthplace of peppery Shiraz. Since the first plantings in 1970 by Heather and Gordon Knight, Granite Hills has forged an enviable reputation with more than 400 awards from local and international shows. These days the vineyard and winery are run by the Knights’ son Llew and his wife Andrea. Llew has been making the wines since the first vintage in 1976.

In 2014 Granite Hills Won the Inaugural Wines of Provenance Trophy at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show.
